Idaho Car Insurance Requirements
The state of Idaho follows a Tort system, meaning someone must be found to be at fault for causing the accident, and that person and their insurance company is responsible for all the damages.

- Ways to Establish Financial Responsibility
Besides carrying liability insurance, you may also choose:
- An indemnity bond from an authorized Idaho surety company
- If you have 25 or more cars registered in your name you may opt for self-insurance. But to qualify you must provide proof of having a net worth of $500,000 or more.
If you choose liability insurance, the preferred coverage for most, you must carry the following minimum:
- $25,000 for injury/death for one person.
- $50,000 for injury/death to more than one person
- $15,000 for damage to property.
Proof of Insurance and Financial Responsibility:
Upon registering you’ll be asked to sign a statement confirming your vehicle is insured.
